- The only multiplayer game timer available. The G8 has more features and sells for less than half the cost of its chess clock competitors.
- It is small enough to be placed in a shirt pocket, 90 mm x 120 mm (3.6 in x 4.75 in). Display measures 34 mm x 67 mm (1 3/8 in x 2 5/8 in). Display only shows actual digits of time, e.g.. 4 minutes and 35 seconds remaining is displayed as 4:35 and not 0:04:35.
- Comes with abbreviated instructions glued inside a protective cover, similar to many calculators.
- Comprehensive printed instructions in English are also included, see Adobe pdf file below.
- Features quick set options for up to 8 different players. Each player can be assigned different turn times, and a different maximum time for all their turns.
- A maximum total game time can also be set.
- The G8 has 2 extra memories so you can save start and mid-game settings. Weeks or months later you can begin with these. Also saved are the delay and warning settings and the last player to have played. On recalling a memory the G8 will automatically be positioned to start with the last player if they had time remaining. Otherwise it will advance to the next player.
- The G8 can be paused in a game and a player's time can be adjusted or a player can be quickly added or removed.
- At any time during a game (without pausing) the display can be switched between increasing or decreasing display of time. Also select between displaying in the large digits the total time remaining for all your turns or your individual turn time remaining.
- There are both sound and light warnings options. Both can be on or off, or the red LED can be used without the sound. They can be set to flash and sound briefly each second for up to the last 9 seconds of a single turn, at the end of your total time for all your turns and at the end of a game. The light and/or sound selected will also function briefly while pressing any button during setup or during a game.
- The warning sound volume is adjustable.
- The G8 can be set with a delay of up to 59 seconds, so that when the start / stop button is pressed the active player is stopped and the timing of the next player begins after the delay period. Use this in chess or for playing trivia type games where the delay period is used for asking questions, or use it for dice games where the dice have to be handed to another player. At any time during the delay countdown you can override the remaining time by pressing the start/stop key.
- Multiple remote start / stop switches (momentary type switches) can be used. None are included but you can make your own.
The unit is powered by 1 CR2032 long life battery and there is a place to insert a second in parallel. When the LCD begins to fade, press pause and insert a new battery in the second position and then remove the old battery. Press the Start/Stop button to continue your game without losing any information. The LCD has an auto off feature for conserving battery life, activated automatically when the G8 has been paused or a player's time has elapsed without further action for 10 minutes . The G8 is manufactured to the most stringent ISO 9001 requirements and the final Quality Assurance (QA) is based on US military AQL standard level II. The G8 comes with a one year warranty.
