A Todd's over sized tinted canopy ( total weight with frame 19 lbs) is installed providing at least 2 inches in additional height and about 4 inches more shoulder room. The internal sides of the canopy are flush with the longerons. The stock locking mechanism of 3 latches has been replaced with a 4 latch system that goes over center and locks onto titanium bolts. Filled and sanded inside and out.

Notice the head rest has been replaced with a chromoly 4130 race car spec. steel frame with a gas strut that will keep the canopy open in strong winds and it also applies a downward pressure when the canopy is closed. Total weight is only 7 pounds. Between the 2 sides is a high strength structural shelf. It has hard points for safety belts. Note the electric speed brake motor center.

Note latch locking bar under left longeron.

Long-ez latches

In the image below notice the titanium stud which is mounted into a solid glass hard point on one side and an aluminum plate on the other for the latch. Also notice the indent for the plans air vent that was not cut out as it was decided to use eye ball vents mounted on the sides to eliminate any chance of water on the instruments. Opening of the canopy allows access to the instruments but a small shield could be installed if desired to prevent any rain intrusion when the canopy is open. The aircraft structure has added fiberglass reinforcing where the canopy leading edge touches it.

Canopy is extended for easy access to instrument panel. Canopy air vent position glassed in but not cut out as a better choice is to install arm pit vents.

Turtle deck has groove all around in glass for rubber tubing seal to canopy, not shown as covered by canopy.

Frames for turning the aircraft over and for storing the canopy.
